UCSC Extension ELI - University Studies

The ELI University Studies Program - (USP) opens the door to top-quality education offered by University of California, Santa Cruz. Students with advanced-level English proficiency, TOEFL score 550 paper-based/80-iBT can study for up to one year in this program. Click here for details.

USP students can take up to 15 credit hours per quarter for full university credit. You can start classes in fall, winter or spring. Acceptance into specific courses is based on available space and the instructor's approval.

You may also choose to audit one or several courses without credit, to experience American university life first-hand.

Students enrolled in the ELI USP program often choose to refresh or expand their English Language skills by enrolling in a 5- or 10-week Intensive English session before starting classes at UCSC. Please click here for our Intensive English schedule and fees.

ELI's Transfer Program

If your goal is to earn a U.S. university associate's, bachelor's or master's degree, you can join ELI's transfer program. ELI staff can help you apply to universities all over the country. If you have completed the Level 5 Intensive English program, we can help you to transfer to one of our partner institutions, DeAnza, Foothill or Cabrillo College, which can provide conditional acceptance without taking the TOEFL.
